Lady Eagles defeat St. Cecilia to return to Lincoln

What a Saturday afternoon it was for the Nebraska Christian Eagles. Looking to make a return to the NSAA State Volleyball Championships they found themselves in a battle with Hastings St. Cecilia in the D1-8 District final.

The Lady Eagles raced out to a great start and a two-set lead, but St. Cecilia battled back to force a fourth and later a fifth set. With the season on the line veteran players like Reghan Flynn led the way for NC as they were able to pick up the win in five sets (25-22, 25-20, 23-25, 16-25, 15-6) in what was a special environment in the Eagles Nest.

Eagles advance with 38-36 win over Alma

Coming into the opening round of the Class D-1 football playoffs there was plenty of excitement surrounding a big matchup between the Nebraska Christian Eagles and the Alma Cardinals. The Cardinals came into the matchup providing plenty of excitement with a high-powered passing attack, but the Eagles were battle tested and ready for whatever came their way.

The Central City and Aurora rivalry is one that predates us all, but it is one that has also lost some of its luster over the years as the two schools have drifted apart in classification. Last Friday electricity was in the air as the rivalry was renewed and the two schools found themselves locked in a fierce battle on the gridiron.

Lady Eagles advance to district final with subdistrict victory

Coming into the season Nebraska Christian volleyball coach Amy Schreiber has some big holes to fill in her lineup and as the season drew near many questions were still left to be answered. You wouldn’t have guessed that in the D1-6 subdistrict on Monday and Tuesday as the Lady Eagles have come together to play as a team and secured victories in dominant fashion.
