Members were greeted, welcomed by staff, shown to a comfortable spacious meeting room and invited to a delicious lunch provided by the Center. Kendra Jefferson, a staff coordinator, then took the group on an all-inclusive tour of the facility. Merrick Medical Center houses a state of the art hospital and clinic for Central City’s physicians and PAs. In addition, numerous Nebraska specialists contract with the center to provide local services not formerly available. Following the informative, enlightening tour, the regular KAPPA meeting was called to order by President Lois Wegner with the Collect and song. Minutes of the November 2023 meeting were read and approved, and member cares and concerns were discussed. Treasurer Dianne Vorderstrasse presented a current financial report. With no expenditures occurring during the winter months, the balance remained constant. A motion was made and approved to donate $100 to the Merrick Medical Foundation as a thank-you, and a second motion approved reimbursing Wanda Duennerman and Lois Wegner in arrears for personal moneys spent on the fall cards-for-vets project. Vorderstrasse reminded members that all dues must be paid by July 1. This can be done at State Convention, the June meeting or submitted by mail, but being tardy with payment must not happen.
