Nebraska weekly gas price update

Average gasoline prices in Nebraska have fallen 6.0 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.37/g today, according to Gas-Buddy’s survey of 1,150 stations in Nebraska. Prices in Nebraska are 1.6 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 13.7 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has decreased 0.4 cents in the last week and stands at $4.01 per gallon.

If you have been a resident of Central City for at least a decade or longer, you will remember the cattle operation that used to sit on the land where the new hospital is now. This week’s farmer used to run that cattle operation. You see, once upon a time, Roy Dinsdale asked Russ Kucera if he’d come to Central City from Palmer and look after the cattle operation when the previous caretaker retired.

Topsoil moisture supplies rated 12% very short, 33% short, 51% adequate, and 4% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 11% very short, 39% short, 46% adequate, and 4% surplus.
Nebraska Crati Brewery Board Seeks Project Proposals to Help Grow Industry

Grow Local. Brew Local. Buy Local.” That’s the mission statement of the Nebraska Craft Brewery Board and the inspiration behind growing the state’s craft brewery industry. To help achieve that mission, the Nebraska Craft Brewery Board is seeking project proposals from growers, industry organizations, state and local agencies, educational groups, and others to fund research, development, and marketing projects in Nebraska’s craft brewing industry. This year, the Board anticipates allocating approximately $120,000 in grants to fund such projects. The deadline to submit proposals is April 30, 2024.
EPA Granting Wavier to Allow Use of E15 this Summer

“We are pleased to again see the EPA grant a waiver to allow for the use of E15 nationwide this summer. Today’s announcement comes on the heels of EPA’s announcement earlier this year to grant a year-round E15 waiver for eight states including Nebraska beginning in 2025. We appreciate EPA’s decision to provide consumers with an affordable and sustainable fuel option, however, it also highlights the need for a permanent solution.”
Merrick County 4-H Council Announces Scholarship Winners

The Merrick County 4-H Council is pleased to announce they have awarded two 4-H members, scholarships for 2024. The 4-H Council Scholarship is based on growth and accomplishments shown through participation in the Merrick County 4-H program.

After finishing a final internship and graduation with his PharmD degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Pharmacist Travis Kuchar will the full time staff at Norm’s Pharmacy as he begins his career in the field. “I like the small community feeling, it’s what I’m used to” says Kuchar.
