CVA to expand The Junction grain facility with $4 million Agronomy Plant

Central Valley Ag (CVA), a leading agricultural cooperative, announced today a significant expansion project for its grain facility, The Junction, located north of Linn, Kansas near the intersection of highways 15 and 148. With an investment of $4 million, the expansion will see the establishment of a state-of-the-art Agronomy Plant, enhancing the cooperative’s capabilities in providing essential agricultural services to farmers in the region.

Nebraska Corn Farmers to invest nearly $3.1 billion to plant 9.85 million acres

Nebraska corn farmers will plant 9.85 million acres of corn in 2024 according to the March Prospective Plantings report released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). If these planting estimates hold up, Nebraska corn farmers will invest nearly 3.1 billion dollars into the state’s economy over a two-month period as calculated by the University of Nebraska - Lincoln’s crop budgets. This total is a result of inputs, such as seed, fuel and fertilizer, but does not include land costs, labor or equipment. Despite the seemingly high investments now, the full economic impact will be realized over time.

Nebraska’s highways have witnessed an alarming increase in high-speed driving violations in the first quarter of 2024, according to recent data from the Nebraska State Patrol. In the first 100 days of the year, troopers have issued a record number of speeding citations for drivers exceeding 90 and 100 miles per hour, the highest figures observed in the past decade.
Local Leaders There are plenty of great people who step in to lend a helping hand to our local youth. Three of those were honored this past Wednesday when they were the recipient of an honorary State FFA Degree as a token of appreciation for their dedication to helping local FFA students. Les Denning, Thomas Hermansen and Rachel Hermansen were honored at the State FFA Convention as part of one of the special nights of ceremonies.
