Giving Back

Body
The local River Rats Association enjoys to have fun, but they also love to help clean up areas along the river and give back to the community along the way. Last Wednesday they were able to give back in a big way when they made donations to six organizations. Among those were (left to right, from top) the High Plains Community FFA who received $1,500, Central City Junior Wrestling who received $1,500, the Merrick County Sheriff’s Department who received $250, The Central City Volunteer Fire Department who received $250, Mission 22 who received $1,500 and Mission Heart who received $1,000 from the River Rats Association. In total, $6,000 was given back to the community. The River rats Association is a nonprofit organization set up to help preserve and protect the wildlife and rivers in Central Nebraska. Through mentoring and education we’re trying to keep the river clean and accessible for public use.

Serving Up Smiles

Body
We all know that the Central City ambulance is here to help in an emergency, but we also found out earlier this month that they can serve up some great food as they hosted a pancake feed fundraiser. There was no shortage of food or fun as the group worked to feed the community while also raising money to be used in purchasing life saving equipment. The Central City Ambulance is currently holding a class for new EMTs, but they are always looking for more great people to join their roster.
