Local students complete degress at Wichita State University

More than 2,060 students completed a total of 2,293 degrees at Wichita State University in spring 2023. The breakdown of degrees and certificates granted includes: * Undergraduate: 1,361 degrees and certificates for 1,233 undergraduate students * Graduate: 932 degrees and certificates for 827 graduate students For bachelor’s degrees, honors were conferred to the following: * Summa cum laude: 115 students * Magna cum laude: 407 students * Cum laude: 292 students Undergraduate students who have attained a grade point average of 3.9 out of a possible 4.0 received the summa cum laude award; those with an average of 3.55 received the magna cum laude award; and those with an average of 3.25 received the cum laude award.

Spencer graduates with BSN

Dawn Mea Kalea Spencer graduated from Omaha Methodist School of Nursing with her BSN on May 5, 2023. She is a 2016 graduate of High Plains Community Schools. She will continue to reside in Omaha and work for CHI Hospital. Parents Sundown and Deb Spencer. Grandparents J.B. and Carolyn McGuinn formerly of Clarks.

Nebraska National Guard Army Band to be at the PAC June 25

Merrick Arts Council is very excited to bring a return trip of the Nebraska National Guard’s 43rd Army Band to Central City on Sunday, June 25 at 7:00 p.m. The military band will be performing at the Central City Performing Arts Center, Edwin and Bernice Lock Theater. There is NO charge for this concert, so come kick off this year’s Lone Tree Days celebration with this patriotic show.

Proclaim Ministry Team: Traveling and Singing

“The experience of traveling with Proclaim this summer—I wouldn’t trade for anything,” a student said. “It is so amazing to see God work through me to give hope and encouragement to other people.” That’s the testimony of one of the young people from Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, FL, who travels with a Proclaim Ministry Team. On June 25, 2023, one of these Proclaim Teams will arrive in Fullerton NE to present a program that will give hope and encouragement to all who attend.
