Daily Activity Report Monday, September 19 Officer responded to a traffic complaint in the area of Highway 14 and 13th Street, officer followed vehicle no violations observed. Officer responded to a citizen assist in the 1600 block of 16th Avenue, Situation resolved.

Clarks is a community known for pride in their village, but even more so, pride in their country. All across the village you will see the support of the community when it comes to thanking those who answer the call and keep our land free.

The Sportsman’s Club of Central City hosted an open house that was open to non-members, with the gates opening at 9:00 am this past Saturday. Guests were invited to bring their .22 rifles and shotguns, and try them out on the club’s gun ranges, and enjoy a meal of pork loin sandwiches with a variety of sides and desserts. The event was hosted in celebration of National Hunting and Fishing Day.

Just as it has in previous years, the annual Youth Ag Showcase took over the Merrick County Fairgrounds last Thursday giving Merrick County sixth graders an opportunity to explore the world of Agriculture. Many local businesses and ag experts were on hand to help make the day a memorable one for the students who attended.

The Clarks Public Library was the recipient of the Pilcrow Foundation grant that allowed $1300.00 worth of books to be awarded to the library. Flatland Mobile Service was a sponsor that aided in the grant process and helped the library attain the lot of children’s books.

With combines and grain carts heading to the fields, the Nebraska Corn Board (NCB) and the Nebraska Corn Growers Association (NeCGA) are urging farmers, residents, and drivers to take a second for safety this harvest season to protect what matters – everyone getting home safe.
