Sportsman’s Club holds open house

The Sportsman’s Club of Central City hosted an open house that was open to non-members, with the gates opening at 9:00 am this past Saturday. Guests were invited to bring their .22 rifles and shotguns, and try them out on the club’s gun ranges, and enjoy a meal of pork loin sandwiches with a variety of sides and desserts. The event was hosted in celebration of National Hunting and Fishing Day.

Thursday night shopping continues

Any day is a great opportunity to get out and explore all the great businesses that Central City has to offer, but Thursday night continues to be the premier night for shopping in our community. Now with multiple successful weeks under their belt, participating businesses look to keep gaining momentum as they continue the Thursday Night Lights shopping experience.

10 Years Ago Central City fireman Rod Spiegel receives his 20-year service watch and the congratulations of Russ Kreachbaum, president of the Central City Volunteer Fire Department at Wednesday’s regular department meeting. Nebraska Senator Deb Fischer stopped in Chapman on Tuesday afternoon to tour Preferred Popcorn and to hold a meet and greet with a number of local residents.

CCPD participates in drunk driving campaign

From August 19, to September 5, the Central City Police Department cracked down on drunk driving as they participated in the annual Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 11,654 people were killed in motor vehicle crashes in 2020 that involved an alcohol-impaired driver.
