Take your shot. A simple statement, but one that the Central City High School girls’ golf team has lived by this season as they have looked to move past their inexperience to keep getting better as the season goes on.

Tuesday the team took a big step in the right direction as every girl who took the course at the Exeter-Milligan Invitational finished the day with a new personal best. The day was also highlighted by a pair of Bison who brought home a medal as the team continued to show solid growth.

Sophomore Addie Moore has shown great growth during her first year of golf and has quickly emerged as a leader for the squad. With some added confidence on the putting green, Moore beat her personal best by eight strokes as she shot a 55 and 53 to finish the day with a 108. The score was good enough to bring home a fourth-place medal, but she was not alone for the Bison when it came to medals.

Akeyli Bush took seven strokes off of her personal best as she finished the day with a 60 and 57 for a 117 and a 14th place finish. Kenzie Fousek also had an outstanding day as she shot a 126 to improve her personal best by seven strokes, but finished just outside of medal contention in 16th place. Katelynn Blomstedt stepped up to the varsity level due to illness and did not disappoint as she took nine strokes off of her personal best. Blomstedt finished with a 130 on the day to help the Bison finish in third place as a team closely behind Fullerton and Grand Island Northwest.

The Bison golfers will be back in action on Monday for a quad with Aurora, Northwest and Central Catholic at Indianhead Golf Course before returning to action on Tuesday for the Fullerton Invitational at Pawnee Hills Golf Club. The team will look to keep improving before the annual Lou-Platte Conference meet at Centura Hills Golf Course next Friday.
