If you look at the record of the Central City High School volleyball team it appears that the team is in similar shape to what they have been in recent season, however many Bison fans got their first opportunity to watch the team play on Tuesday night. It is easy to see growth and improvement from a season ago, but the Lady Bison still find themselves searching for that elusive first victory of the season.

Tuesday night they found themselves on the losing end of all three sets to a Wood River team that has not lost a set this season. With quality play in the first and second set the Bison were within striking distance, but failed to close out each set. In the end it would go the way of the Lady Eagles (25-23, 25-22, 25-15) but the Bison have plenty to build upon heading into next week.

Thursday the Lady Bison will find themselves up against a quality Cross County team who is perfect through their first three matches of the season. After the home game they will hit the road for a triangular in Doniphan where they will face Doniphan-Trumbull and Gibbon. Doniphan-Trumbull finds themselves 3-3 on the season including being swept in two matches with common opponents to the Bison. Gibbon sits 1-4 on the season leaving Central City with two opportunities to get that first win and turn their season around with some confidence.

*Last Thursday the Lady Bison hit the road once again as they traveled to Cairo to face Centura. The Centurions were too much to handle as they defeated Central City in three sets (25-10, 25-22, 25-22) but the Bison held their own in the final two sets.

Marissa Crumrine led the way for Central City with ten kills in the contest while Makayla Enevoldsen added six kills, a pair of ace serves and nine digs. Faith Campa recorded four kills, two blocks and six digs while Elaina McHargue added a kill and a pair of blocks. Teagan Sadler led the team with ten digs while Addie Buhlke added six digs of her own. Brookly Richardson added three digs and also led the team with 19 assists.
