Travis was born on August 17, 1972 in Henderson to Dick and Lorraine (Recknor) Bauer. Travis spent his younger years in various locations, some of which were Hordville, Central City, and Holdrege. He graduated from Polk High School in 1991 and from there he attended one year at Kearney State College in Kearney.

He later moved to the Fort Collins, Colorado area where he trained German Shepherds for the Police Department. His love of dogs, especially German Shepherds, remained throughout his lifetime. In recent years he worked for Apria Health Care delivering oxygen units in the Central Nebraska area. As his health began to decline, he moved to Polk where he remained until his death.

Travis will be remembered for his dry sense of humor, his love of animals, his non-impressive lifestyle of “wrapping” gifts in Dollar General or Walmart plastic bags, and throwing change in the yard for his niece and nephews to find. He was a big guy with a big heart towards anyone who was hurting. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who died on the cross for him. He is now home free but will be greatly missed.

Those left to mourn his passing are his mother- Lorraine Bauer; brother- Lauren David (Nicole) Bauer; niece- Serena Bauer; nephews- Layne and John Bauer; aunt- Vicki Recknor; his special “Aunt B”, Lance, and Charlotte Recknor, and many other dear relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father- Dick Bauer, grandparents-Carl and Grace Bauer, Edward and Evaline Recknor, three uncles-Kenneth Bauer, Norm Recknor, and John Recknor; one aunt- Joyce Bauer; niece- Kristine Bauer.
