Doris J. Erickson, 93, of Clarks, died Friday, September 30, 2022 at her home. Funeral services were October 4, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City. Visitation was October 3, 2022 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial was in the Lindale Cemetery near Hordville.

Doris Jean Quick was born on January 3, 1929 on a farm near Hordville, Nebraska, to Clifford and Vernie (Jones) Quick. That is also where she attended country school District 90. She was baptized at the age of 10 and became a member of the First Baptist Church. Later, the family moved closer to Hordville where she attended District 61 and graduated from High School in 1945. She then attended Nebraska Central College and earned a degree in Elementary Education. She was a teacher in District 94, for two years. Roger returned from overseas from serving in the military. They were married on February 15, 1947. The couple farmed for a few years and were members of the Baptist Church.

In 1959, the couple moved their five children to Stromsburg. They became members of the Baptist Church there. While living in Stromsburg, they owned and operated the Dairy Inn. Doris also cooked in the school lunch program for 13 years and was a nurse’s aid at Covenant Home in Stromsburg.

In 1979, the couple moved to Clarks and made their home on the farm. During retirement, she became a care giver for the elderly. She loved to crochet and quilt. She made quilts for all her children and grandchildren. She and Roger enjoyed singing and playing at retirement and rest homes. They spent many years singing with The No Name Bunch. They also enjoyed traveling the countryside in the camper and attending country music festivals.

Doris was a member of the Baptist Church, WMS, and was a Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Merry Mothers Club and a girls 4-H Leader.

She is survived by a daughter- Luana (Jim) Pogue of Stromsburg; three sons- Lowell Erickson of Stromsburg; Lonnie (Jeanette) Erickson of Grand Island; and Lauren (Debra) Erickson of Clarks; daughterin- law, Lisa Erickson of Norton, Kans.; 16 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren; brother- Dale Quick of Hordville; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; Roger Erickson, son; Lyle Erickson, her sister; Darlene Day; grandson; Alan Pogue; and daughter-in-law; Shirley Erickson.
