Carol Elaine (Hettrich) Lemmerman, 96, of Central City formerly of Palmer, passed away on December 23, 2023 at Cottonwood Estates in Central City. Funeral services will be at the Palmer Methodist Church on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 10:30 am with Pastor Cesar Duran officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the church. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery near Palmer. Solt-Wagner Funeral Home of Central City is assisting the family.

Carol was born on April 10, 1927 in Palmer the daughter of John and Alice (Wegner) Hettrich. She attended Gage Valley country school and graduated from Palmer High School in 1944.

After graduating, she worked at the telephone office in Grand Island while living with her grandparents. She was united in marriage to Richard Lemmerman on October 6, 1946 in Palmer. The couple lived in Palmer their entire life. She helped in the family business of raising chickens and eggs.

She was a member of the Palmer United Methodist church where she played the organ for many years, United Methodist Women, Palmer Women’s Club and Chat & Nibble. She loved to quilt and was in a quilting club for several years.

She and her husband took many motorcoach trips and enjoyed going to Husker football games. They also liked camping and fishing.

Those left to cherish her memory are three daughters and two sonsin- law, Linda and Russ Saunders of Central City, Deborah and Dan Nedrig of Archer, Trish Eriksen of Dakota Dunes, SD, and son and daughter-in-law Rod and Heather Lemmerman of Grand Island. Seven grandchildren, Julie (Bob) Person, Dustin (Annette) Saunders, Jeff (LaShonn) Saunders, Leah (Casey) Scheetz, Andrea (Ken) Schroeder, Clay Nedrig, Dave (Sarah) Nedrig; two step-grandsons, Travis (Trish) Morfitt, and Grand Morfitt. Great-Grandchildren: Hannah Person, Sarah Person, Benjamin Saunders, Sophia Schroeder, Abe Schroeder, Eli Shcroeder, Isabelle Schroeder, Joshua Nedrig, Ziva Nedrig, and step great-grandchildren, Liam Morfitt, Nessa Morfitt, Drake Morfitt and Mile Morfitt. Two sisters, Judy (Jim) Rose, Karen Killion, brother-inlaw Charles “Pooch”Roper.

She was preceded in death by her husband, son, Ron Lemmerman and son-in-law, Ron Eriksen. Sisters, Glenna Roper and Joan Hettrich, brother, Dick Hettrick, and brother-in-law, Dick Hettrick, and brotherin-law Elmer Killion.
