Adeline was born on May 11, 1932, on a farm near Agnew, to Charles and Rose (Hajek) Benes. On June 12, 1951, she was united in marriage to Raymond V. Houdek at St. Joseph’s Church in Agnew. To this union they were blessed with ten children.

Adeline was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, the Sunshine Extension Club, and the District 2 school board. She liked all aspects of gardening (even hoeing!) and especially loved her flower gardens. She enjoyed word searches, puzzles, reading, going to garage sales, and playing board games with the family (everyone wanted her on their team!). She went with Ray to many farm auctions - sometimes just to keep an eye on what Ray was buying – and enjoyed driving around with him to look at crops. She is remembered as having a wonderful sense of humor, being caring and a devoted wife and mother and always found the good in people. But her greatest treasure was her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids who enjoyed listening to her stories about growing up on a farm.

Those left to cherish her memory are children Leroy (Suzie Dunne) Houdek, Don (Cindy) Houdek, Diane (Mike) Wells, Elaine (Jim) Null, Karen (Bernie) Wiese, Joyce (Carl) Ewing, Mike (Sally) Houdek, Joanne (Kevin) Wilson, Gary (Deb) Houdek, Margaret (Chuck) Wagner; 31 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; parents Charles and Rose Benes; siblings Phillip Benes, Stella Fiedler, Rudy Benes, Stephen Benes, Elsie Houdek, and Richard Benes; and great grandson, Elijah.
